Dental Implants

A dental implant can restore your smile by replacing missing teeth

Our experienced clinicians in Northamptonshire understand how devastating it can be to be told that you’re going to lose a tooth. Having a missing tooth or preparing to have one removed can impact both your confidence and your daily living. Here at Priors Hall Dental, our team proudly provide a number of treatments that can help to replace a tooth and transform your smile.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are an effective way to replace the root of a tooth. They are screws made from titanium and can be placed directly into your jawbone, providing a stable foundation for a crown. Dental implants work to restore your tooth both functionally and aesthetically.

What types of dental implants are available?

At Priors Hall Dental, we’re incredibly proud of the range of dental implants we have available. Our experienced team are always able to find a treatment that suits you and your oral health.

All-On-Four, All-On-Six Same-Day Treatment

Same-day teeth can be used to replace multiple or all teeth in an arch. This procedure brings back function for patients with missing teeth. Here at our practice in Northamptonshire, we can replace up to six teeth in one treatment. Our clinicians will begin by determining if your jaw is suitable for multiple implants. This is usually determined via a CT scan. Once our friendly team has confirmed that you are suitable, we can fit your dental implants in just one day.

Single-Tooth Dental Implant

If you have a single tooth that needs replacing, our single-tooth dental implants are the ideal treatment. Single-tooth implants are used to replace just one single missing tooth or a tooth that is soon to be extracted. A metal screw made from titanium is fitted to replace the root of your tooth and a porcelain crown will then be attached on top.

Ignoring just one missing tooth can lead to further oral health issues. Your remaining teeth may realign, food may get lodged within the gap and it is more likely for bone loss in the jaw to occur. If you have a single tooth that needs replacing, do not hesitate to contact our practice in Northamptonshire today. Call us on 01536 214 144 now. Prices start from £4000.00.

Implant-Retained Dentures

Implant-retained dentures are an ideal choice for those familiar with dentures. They are similar to traditional dentures, but instead of being held in place via an adhesive, they are fixed via implants to the jaw. However, the denture itself is removable.

This treatment is usually a longer process as it can take around two months for the bone in the jaw to fuse with the implants. During those months, you will be provided with temporary dentures. At a later date, you will be called back to our warm and welcoming Northamptonshire practice to have your permanent dentures fitted.

Which dental implant treatment should I choose?

Here at Priors Hall Dental, we understand that the choice of how to replace your missing teeth is personal. During your initial consultation, we will perform the necessary examinations to help determine which procedure would be the most suitable. Our friendly clinicians will then sit down and discuss your treatment options with you.

We want you to feel comfortable and confident in the decision that you are making, so we will talk you through your options and make you aware of the benefits of each. Our team will be with you to guide you throughout the entire process.

Do I need a dental implant if my tooth is missing or broken?

A dental implant is not a requirement but it would be incredibly beneficial to your oral health. Helping you to eat and improving your confidence, dental implants can improve your daily living and well-being. If you have a broken tooth, you may not necessarily need a dental implant. This can depend on the severity of your oral health issue and whether the broken tooth has exposed the inner sections of the tooth.

During your consultation at our Northamptonshire practice, we will discuss with you whether dental implants are a suitable treatment option. For a minor chip in your tooth, our experienced team may recommend composite bonding to help fill in the cracks.

Dental implant aftercare

You may feel some pain or discomfort for a few days after having your dental implants fitted. Some of our patients develop swelling or bruises which will disappear within a week after treatment. You may take over-the-counter medication to relieve your pain.

After treatment, taking care of your dental implants is simple.

  • Keep the mouth clean
  • Avoid brushing around the implant for the first few days after treatment
  • Rinse with salt and warm water to encourage the area to heal
  • No smoking or vaping
  • Avoid hot and cold drinks
  • Eat carefully around the dental implant
  • Rinse your mouth out after eating to keep the area clean and prevent any debris getting stuck

Our compassionate team will provide you with all the advice and guidance you need to take care of your dental implants.
