What are the benefits of Invisalign?

Are you looking for a discreet way to straighten your teeth?

Invisalign clear aligners have become increasingly popular over the most recent years. They are a revolutionary option that helps you achieve your dream smile. With minimal impact on your daily life or routine, unsightly braces are a thing of the past with Invisalign.

Here at Priors Hall Dental, we’re proud to be Diamond Invisalign providers. Let our experts talk you through the benefits of Invisalign clear aligners and why they are a better option for some than traditional braces.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a series of clear aligners that gradually straighten your teeth over a period of time. When it comes to teeth straightening treatment options, most of us picture traditional braces that use metal wires and brackets. Invisalign is revolutionary in the way that they are made of plastic and a lot more convenient and pain-free.

Invisalign gently moves your teeth into position, slowly but effectively closing any small gaps between them. The series of clear aligners are also able to realign crooked teeth and fix most overbites and underbites.

Invisalign or traditional braces?

You may be wondering whether you should choose Invisalign clear aligners or traditional braces. Below are just some of the ways that Invisalign can be more suitable than braces.

Discreet

If you are looking for a discreet way to straighten your teeth without the use of metal wiring or brackets, Invisalign could be the best option for you. Nobody will even know that you are wearing your aligners unless you tell them.

No dietary limitations

You are able to take your aligners out to eat comfortably for up to 2 hours a day. There are also no dietary limitations with Invisalign, whereas certain foods could get stuck between the wiring of traditional braces. Our friendly team in Northamptonshire always recommend sticking to a healthy diet but Invisalign has no restrictions.

Easy to clean

Invisalign clear aligners are easy to clean. You should rinse your aligners with water every night. Brush them with a soft-bristled toothbrush to remove any food and debris that has built up throughout the day and then thoroughly rinse them with lukewarm water.

Fewer visits to our Northamptonshire practice

Metal braces require regular visits to our practice to tighten the bands or wires. With Invisalign, we will want to see you for routine check-ups at regular intervals, but you will receive the aligners in advance. This means you can move on to the next phase in your Invisalign journey without visiting our practice.

More comfortable
One of the main benefits of Invisalign is that they are tailored to your individual smile and will therefore sit comfortably over your teeth. You may experience a little discomfort in the first few days of wearing each new set of clear aligners but this should settle down shortly after. As you can remove Invisalign to eat, drink and brush your teeth, you won’t feel uncomfortable when completing daily tasks.

Are Invisalign clear aligners suitable for me?

There are some circumstances where Invisalign clear aligners may not be suitable and traditional braces will be recommended instead.

If you still have any of your baby teeth, Invisalign will not be suggested by our team. In this case, our experienced clinicians will discuss alternative braces with you. If you are experiencing signs of gum disease, this will need to be addressed before Invisalign treatment can begin.

In complex orthodontic situations, Invisalign clear aligners may not be the most suitable treatment plan for you. If Invisalign is not recommended by our compassionate team, we will suggest an alternative option that still aims to achieve your desired results.
